EcoEnergy Scandinavia AB to Invest EUR 20 bln in Energy Efficiency Projects On June 15, Swedish company EcoEnergy Scandinavia AB and the Ukrainian government signed an agreement stipulating the Swedish enterprise's construction and operation of waste-incineration plants in Ukraine. With state of the art technology, these facilities boast great environmental advantages and will provide a new cost-efficient energy source for Ukraine. EcoEnergy will construct and operate local plants to incinerate various types of waste to produce electricity, heating, air conditioning and biogas. This modern, environmentally friendly technology enables carbon dioxide neutral production/operation. EcoEnergy intends to attract third party investors and partners to speed up the implementation of the more than EUR 20 bln, multi-year project. Please click here for more information. |

Energy Efficiency Center Opens in Ivano-Frankivsk On May 13, the U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation celebrated the official opening of a new CREST Center for Energy Efficiency Technologies in Ivano-Frankivsk. The CREST (Cooperation in Research and Education in Science and Technology) program was developed jointly by the Ministry of Ukraine for Education and Science and CRDF, a unique public-private partnership promoting international scientific and technical collaboration through grants, technical resources and training. The CREST Center in Ivano-Frankivsk will strengthen research on energy efficiency technologies by creating a Research and Education Center at a Ukrainian university. Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpatsky University in Ivano-Frankivsk was chosen in a bilateral, peer-reviewed, two-stage competition that included site visits by an expert team to four finalist universities. Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and British Council Open Climate Change Center National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" and the British Council invite you to the opening of the Information Center on Climate Change on June 4th. The Center will incorporate the Challenge Europe program a program of the British Council. The aim of the new center is to collect and disseminate information about climate change and support partnerships for more proactive climate control. The information center invites all interested organizations including state agencies, NGOs, businesses, and media to participate.
